Job Description Job Description The Data Centre Mainframe Engineer role sits within the Data Centre Engineering and Operations team and is based in Basingstoke, with limited travel to other Visa locations as required. This position is responsible for supporting the mainframe and storage hardware environments within the Visa Basingstoke Data Centre, as well as future UK locations
The role operates as part of a global team and includes ownership of day‑to‑day operational activities across these environments. Key responsibilities include the planning, installation, relocation, and decommissioning of modern, high‑end mainframe and storage equipment within the data halls. The role also encompasses the installation, maintenance, and support of structured cabling systems, along with the diagnosis and resolution of hardware and cabling issues
In addition, the engineer will contribute to and support internal projects, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure successful delivery while maintaining operational stability and adherence to data center standards.
